Bol, 10.6.2017 – The finals of the second WTA Croatia Bol Open Tournament will be played between the Serbian Aleksandra Krunic and Romanian Alexandra Cadantu. Krunic won against the Brazillian Beatriz Haddad Maia and Cadantu scored the win against the title defendant Luxembourgian Mandy Minella.
After dropping the first set 1:6, Aleksandra Krunic scored a decisive victory at the end.
“Of course it is a bit unexpected, this was my first semifinal and now I go to the first final. This was a really good week for me. After the first set I had to adapt to her serve speed but I was patient and waited for my moment, for her to start slowing down because if she had continued with the same I don’t think I would have endured” –said Krunic immediately after the victory.
She added that she was very focused on the play and her sports routine so she had no time to enjoy the Bol, but she promises to celebrate regardless of the outcome tomorrow.
Romanian Cadantu, ranked at bare 235th place surprised the many by entering the tournament in Bol.
Are you surprised that you made it all the way to the final?
“I am not that surprised. I have been training hard and dreamed about winning a WTA title. I have been working on my game and now I am on a very solid level; the title has to come once. Now I am just thinking about recovering. I am happy with what I did so far” – she commented after the match.
Krunic and Catandu played only one match so far, 8 long years ago in Vinaros (Spain) where Krunic won.
Tomorrow, beginning at 11am at WTA Croatia Bol Open we expect an exhibition match Majoli – Hingis after which we have the final Krunic – Cadantu from 12 pm. Both of the matches will be broadcasted directly on HRT2.Back
